Hundreds of thousands of files.
Minutes, not hours.

Copying a photo library, a code project or years of documents file by file — over Wi‑Fi or to a USB drive — can take hours. Backup Disk packs small files into large packages and sends only what changed.

Illustration. Actual speed depends on your network, devices and files.

Packaged transfer

Thousands of tiny files travel together in big packages, so your network runs at full speed instead of waiting on each file.

Only changes travel

Backup Disk knows what’s already on your device. The next backup copies just the new and edited files — usually in seconds.

Picks up where it left off

Interrupted? The next sync continues with what’s left instead of starting over.

Two minutes to set up

Three steps. Then just tap Sync.

  1. 1

    Choose folders on your Mac

Add the folders you want to protect — or just drag them into the window.

  2. 2

    Pair your iPhone or iPad

Your Mac appears automatically on the same network. Enter the six‑digit sync key once.

  3. 3

    Tap Sync All

Watch it happen live. From then on, only changed files are copied.

Private by design

Pair with the sync key shown on your Mac. Your files go straight from Mac to device — no accounts, no servers, no tracking. On iPhone they’re protected by your passcode and Face ID.

Wi‑Fi or cable

Your Mac shows up automatically on the same network. Plug in for the fastest transfers.

Several Macs, one device

Back up your MacBook and your studio Mac to the same iPhone or iPad.

Questions & answers

Do my files go through the internet or a cloud?
No. Files travel directly from your Mac to your iPhone or iPad over your local network or a cable. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account to create.
Do both devices need to be on the same Wi‑Fi?
Yes — or connected with a cable. Your Mac appears automatically on the iPhone or iPad when both are on the same network.
Where are the backups stored on my iPhone?
Inside Backup Disk’s own storage, protected by your passcode and Face ID. You can browse them in the app and in the Files app, even offline.
Why is it faster than copying files myself?
Copying many small files one by one wastes most of the time on per-file overhead. Backup Disk bundles them into large packages and copies only new or changed files, so later backups usually take seconds.
What do I need?
A Mac with macOS 13 or later and an iPhone or iPad with iOS / iPadOS 16 or later, with Backup Disk installed on both.
